In this year's Women’s Car of the Year awards, the Lexus LC 500 Convertible is named the best luxury car. This is Lexus’ first soft-top vehicle and has been recognised for its excellence, considering factors such as safety, technology and comfort. The Women’s Car of the Year awards is now in its 11th year and is the only jury in the automotive sector to be composed exclusively of women.
The judges who consist of motoring journalists, have stated that “the Lexus LC 500 Convertible is a delightful madness to dream about, a car to add to the bucket list. It retains all the passion of classic sports cars, the ones that didn’t need tricks or turbos to make you fall in love” and “the mixture of luxury with Japanese sportiness and a magnificent engine helps make this a unique and unforgettable car”.
The LC 500 Convertible provides a driving pleasure, unique design and impressive craftmanship, capturing the spirit of Lexus’ evolution as a luxury lifestyle brand. The design team behind the LC Convertible succeeded in turning the award-winning Coupé into an impressive and stylish soft-top. The production version of the car had minimal changes, launching in 2020 and made an impression as a halo model for the entire Lexus line-up.
The car is not only designed to look beautiful with the roof up or down, but the performance is also as equally exciting. A 5.0-litre V8 engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission, matches the top speed of the Coupe at 155mph. Aerodynamic styling prevents any uncomfortable wind buffeting when driving at speed and in just 5 seconds, the LC Convertible can accelerate from 0-62mph. The cabin inside the vehicle is beautifully designed and finished in high-quality materials throughout.
The Women’s Car of the Year awards have adopted a new voting method this year, by selecting the three best models in each category before choosing individual winners. The votes are certified like they have been in previous years, by Grant Thornton an independent auditor from New Zealand.
